Assembly hopeful wants 'smart light' program on Island

South Shore Assembly candidate Mario Bruno said yesterday that, if elected, he would introduce legislation to create a "smart light" pilot program on Staten Island to help ease traffic congestion here.

Bruno, a former city Department of Transportation (DOT) engineer, is running in a Republican Party primary against Assemblyman Robert Straniere and Vincent Ignizio. He has been endorsed by the Conservative Party.
